…and there is overwhelming proof as to the veracity of that statement .

What works in America does not always works overseas and is not always a virtue. For example, does Kerry want Germany to legalize the NSDAP aka Nazi party again or Nazi parties in general? A Nazi like party can be legal in the USA because the USA has a 2 party semi-offical system that blocks out third parties in general and secondly, this sort of party would get no traction even if we had 3rd viable parties. In Germany and in Europe with a proportional electoral system a legal extremist party is not so easily side swiped.

NDP is the nazis, most people who follow politics in Europe are aware of that, and they receive state funding [Link: littlegreenfootballs.com…]

I find that Hate speech laws just challenge hate groups to sharpen their message and recruiting while also obscuring who they really are. You are correct that there are only two major parties in the US, but don’t confuse the symptom with the cause. The fringe parties in the US are fringe because they are outspoken and people know who they are and where they stand on issues. The major parties are major because they don’t allow the extremists to reign for very long simply because the party bleeding becomes too prolonged and debilitating. Eventually even these far right tea party Republicans are going to get yanked back towards center. It’s as inevitable as the sunrise.

Stay tuned on the NDP and its legal status.

Germany seeks to ban far-right party

I consider nations having their own ecosystems and what works in one nation does not work so well in another. It makes sense to me having lived in Europe for such parties to be banned but I can understand why in the US such views are not held.

Another case is Iraq and like societies where democracy is seen as a tribal vote rather than a personal one.

John Kerry really said “a right to be stupid”? Those are his exact words?

Its like Obama got a new VP and made Joe Biden the SOS.

“In America you have a right to be stupid - if you want to be,” he said, prompting laughter.”

How is that a gaffe, though? The right not to have someone else’s concept of intelligence forced upon you doesn’t seem all that hard to defend to me…
