Idiots like Serrano give dumbasses like Hoft credibility amongst the room temperature IQ’s of this country .

At this point, I’m pretty sure that the first person to object to President Obama serving more than two terms would be President Obama.

I can’t see him wanting to keep going after all the shit the GOP has put him through.

Yeah, I remember laughing at the idiots who thought Bush wanted to get rid of it. After 8 years most of them are happy to leave. FDR was a rare exception. Anyhow, I never liked the idea of requiring term limits. I understand why it was implemented though.

I don’t think Rep. Serrano is an idiot or needs to be punched. The wingnut bloggers and talking heads are the ones to blame here for not doing the most basic research instead of just devolving into

OMG Repeal 22nd Amendment? Obama=Dictator for Life!!!!!

without realizing that presidents were still elected, even before the 22nd Amendment.

What are good arguments in favor of it?

It seems to me that it makes the executive less responsive to the people during the 2nd term, since he’s effectively a lame duck for 4 years. That seems more a bug than a feature.

FDR literally was President for Life.

Agreed. It’s a piece of legislation that gets proposed every few years regardless of political affiliation. I should have sarc tagged my title, it was written tongue in cheek. The 22nd amendment is relatively new in the grand scheme of things. The two term limit was more if a defacto standard post Washington to FDR.

Indigenous Americans Ruled Democratically Long Before the U.S. DidDemocracy: it was older and more widespread than we thought. At the Oconee site, called Cold Springs, artifacts were excavated before the valley became an aquatic playground. Now, new older-than-expected radiocarbon dates for those museum-held finds push back the origin ...
