Russia has real fears of inter faith violence so they want to prevent any form of violence that may arise from one group attacking a religion of another. I don’t approve of such laws but I understand why and it sadly probably needed in a country like Russia.

Where is the right-wing outrage about this? Imagine if a Muslim or communist country backed a similar law.

What the band did was more than just a civil protest . It was done in a church and in a most distastefull and contemptuos way . They mocked more than just Putin /. Russia no longer persecutes religion , however the Russians do know the difference between muslims , and destructive muslim extremists . men doing the same thing would have met the same fate .

So, how is what the band did more than trespassing?

Does it take a national response in the form of a religious law?

Do American read news in any form? Did the Chechen jihad war get forgotten? What if a mosque was attacked or a temple (Buddhist or Jewish)? The death toll in Russia would potentially be huge.

I think religion is silly but others don’t. Maybe if Russia calms down about religion in a generation they can revisit this problem and eliminate such laws (if they get passed - it’s a bill currently).

Putin’s motivation is to preserve order and in that context this law makes sense for Russia.

I’m rooting for combative atheism.
In Muslim countries, secular people will be safe only when they’re well armed and form gangs. But it would be ironic if it happened in Russia first.

They set as the goal the deliberate insulting of Christianity. I don’t think that should be a crime, but when you do it while trespassing it should in my opinion be an additional cause of action in the law suit.

The habit of Euro-poser pseudo-intellectuals.

So if I said “Russians are stupid” would that be OK Destro? Or is just PC to say “Americans are stupid?” Seems that way from my experience with the posers.

Thanks for smacking the troll, Gus. He flings insults without provocation, and its good to see him getting a dose of Gus 802 Mockery.

The only cause. I don’t know, maybe some property damage …

What other crime did they really commit?

I have to fall to the Larry Flynt Defense here: “There is no law against bad taste”
