“Welcome to Moronia”

Gawd. Just let them join Wyoming I guess. ?

Oh, and check the grammar on the way out the door.

You may see a further splintering of conservative counties from blue trending states…and this is bad for the rest of us since it could mean even more far right senators and representatives from low density wingnut rural states.

However, this simply won’t go anywhere. To split a state requires the consent of the state. In addition, this portion of Colorado is doing measurably worse than the rest of the state on average:

Population: 258,638 (2011)
Unemployment rate: 8.1% (Mar 2013)

They are being subsidized by the Denver-Boulder-Fort Collins area.

There have been several times in history when US states were split…. but that was long ago. Nevertheless, the option is open, I guess, if some counties want to leave a state and annex themselves to another.

I doubt any of these efforts could ever become a new state these days.

Fantasies like this are just going to simmer, for a very long time, until these people die off.

There have been several times in history when US states were split…. but that was long ago.

West Virginia was split from Virginia by the American civil war when federal troops stopped part of Virginia from seceding from the union.

And Maine split from Massachusetts because c’mon just look at the map. When both were a single state, you had go through New Hampshire to commute to the other side. Think about police jurisdiction for starters. It simply wasn’t practical.

What I’m trying to say is, states splitting wasn’t something done lightly. So these clowns in Colorado are delusional if they think they’re going anywhere with this.

Congress has to approve any splits. Article IV, Section 3

New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.

I swear these wing nuts are the biggest fucking babies in the entire world. Filled with vitriol and hatred and yet if smallest thing doesn’t go their way they want to secede, revolt, leave the country or lynch/shoot someone.

I’ll hold my breath until I turn blue!

Whiny little bitches.

I wonder how many of the secessionists have bothered to look this information up in the Constitution, especially since they profess to know the Constitution better than any other group in the nation? I recall their shouts of “Follow the Constitution!” during the height of the tea party rallies, but when it comes to actually knowing what is in the document, they fail every frigging time. They seem to think that if they want to do a certain thing, they can do it because of FREEDOM!!!

Yes, this is a perfect example of the rugged individualism they advertise as being a pillar of conservatism. //
