It’s customary at many hockey games in Canada to sing the Canadian anthem with mixed English and French verses (there are full versions of the anthem in both languages).
Can you imagine the outrage if someone dared to sing a mixed English/Spanish version of The Star Spangled Banner in, say, Arizona?
