Justice Ginsburg Becomes First Supreme Court Justice to Officiate Same-Sex Wedding
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will become the nation’s first Supreme Court justice to officiate a same-sex ceremony, the Washington Post reports, marrying Kennedy Center President Michael M. Kaiser and economist John Roberts on Saturday.
In June, Ginsburg joined a 5 to 4 ruling striking down a section of the Defense of Marriage Act — which prohibited the federal government from recognizing same-sex unions — and said during oral arguments for the case that the law relegated gays and lesbians to “sort of skim milk marriage.”
