I received an email from my accountant and found this online at CNN. According to the article and my accountant’s email these callers use everything they can to persuade you to give them they money that they say you owe via prepaid debit cards or wire transfers. The article also mentions that the callers also threaten and are verbally abusive. Read the story for more information. money.cnn.com

IRS is very intolerant of amateurs.
The times I’ve had to be on the phone with the IRS, they are often the nicest public servants I talk to.

You weren’t trying to impersonate them. Also, don’t screw with postal inspectors—a teen peeper in neighborhood was untouched until he started smashing mail boxes.

Someone has been calling my wife for a few weeks now, every couple of days. They make 4 calls in a day, each threatening that they are calling about a “case” and “charges” and that she has until the end of the day. The first couple of days they didn’t even give a damn company name. Now they have a fake company name, but still the same litany of bogus “charges” and threats. My wife’s debt has been dormant for over 7 years, so whoever these folks are probably stole info from someone, and is just using fear.
I’d love to be able to pick up the phone one of the times they call. Something I have to say to these con-artist sons of bitches.

*57 is call trace for Verizon customers. If you have a different provider find out what their equivalent is and use it.

Your state attorney general might run a consumer fraud watch that would be interested. Try googling their web site.
