He’s a bigoted old creep. Says a lot about the RR and their values that they stood up for this guy.

So I finally watched a few episodes of this show… (hey! it’s on like 12 times a day, before and after shows that I’m not embarassed to watch) —

The old man and his brother are super-creepy, but in a way I recognize from old flicks. The mom is a 1940’s vaudeville kind of flighty — think Gracie Allen without the polish. And one of the sons is Gilligan-level stupid, his brothers are always rolling their eyes at him, I keep expecting them to pull their hats off and slap him with them. But two of the brothers and their wives come off reasonably well, one of the pairs I could even imagine enjoying a meal with — the guy reminds me of the man from Green Acres, and his wife is like a middle-class suburban woman transplanted to the sticks and keeping good humor about the adjustment.

Whatever scriptwriters/editors they’re working with do a pretty good job; I’m impressed with the selection of archtypes they’re portraying. I still won’t be buying any of their products.

He’s quoting the Bible, so any attempt to stifle his First Amendment Rights (which include the right to one’s own reality TV show) is an attack on Christianity.
