This one has gone viral, and it looks real, real bad. However, the smart money would be to bet that the investigation report says that all department policies were followed. Also, too.

Wilsey admitted that his son was still holding a small screwdriver when he was shot, but said that the 90-pound boy was under control and could not have hurt anyone.

I’d like to see where on the force escalation diagram “shooting a subdued suspect” appears.

Welcoming, pro-business, Republican North Carolina. Again.

1. From the link:

“I know what happened, I was there,” the teen’s father said. “I watched him shoot my son in cold blood right in front of me, and there’s no changing that.”

However, attorney James Payne, who is representing the officer who allegedly shot Keith Vidal, said that the investigation would show no wrongdoing.

Both these statements could well be true.

2. I’ve said it before: if the technology is available and I suspect it is, on-duty police should be required to wear recording equipment; that would protect citizens from police abuse and protect conscientious officers from false accusations.

Also where “we don’t have time for this” appears. What, was he afraid his dinner would get cold?

I’ve actually seen some wearable cameras, they’re worn at roughly eye level so the camera sees almost exactly what the officer sees. These are slow to catch on though, for obvious reasons.

Why are cops such pussies?

Is this an overly hostile question? Good.
