Homophobic Delusions - The heavy disconnect from reality of gay marriage opponents
Recently Alan Keyes said that if we don’t stop gay marriage it will lead to the destruction of America. He also claimed that even before that happens, marriage equality will somehow harm straight people, and that the courts are taking our liberty away.
The elitists’ push to legalize, and forbid disapproval of, homosexual relations is the most telling evidence of their hostility toward America’s way of life. It is also the key, in principle, to their thus far successful strategy to overthrow America’s historically exceptional government of, by, and for the people; and to restore unchallenged rule by and for the advantage of, the most powerful elitist clique.
That’s ridiculous. For one thing, not only does he fail to show how homosexual relationships are harmful, to ban disapproval of them, would violate the first amendment. We still haven’t banned opposition to interracial marriage, which is far less controversial nowadays. We will never be able to force preachers to perform same sex weddings, unless we ignore the first amendment as well. Making public officials perform them isn’t the same thing. They work for the government, not a church. However the paranoia, hate and absurdity only gets more extreme.
Here’s a really dumb paranoid video by the hate group MassResistance. It was posted awhile back on Jeremy Hooper’s “Good As You” blog, where we all commented on how stupid it was. Brian Camenker’s commentary is so ridiculous that it’s practically a self parody.

His claim that the gay rights movement is oppressive is a joke all by itself. It’s people like Camenker who are oppressing people.
Yet the claim made by homophobes that they’re “defenders of freedom” is a common one. Even going so far as to claim that America isn’t a free country because it tolerates homosexuality. Just listen to this nonsensical statement by “Ex-gay activist” D.L. Foster that rightwingwatch picked up.
Some opponents of marriage equality have tried to convince us that they’re defending civil rights, even going so far as try to make it look like the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King would have supported them. I sincerely doubt he would support people like Scott Lively who is not only being sued for his role in Uganda’s “Kill The Gays Bill,” but co wrote that horrid “The Pink Swastika” book.
Written by fundamentalist activists Scott Lively and Kevin Abrams, The Pink Swastika says that rather than being victimized by the Nazis, gay men in Hitler’s inner circle actually helped mastermind the Holocaust.
“While we cannot say that homosexuals caused the Holocaust, we must not ignore their central role in Nazism,” write Lively and Abrams. “To the myth of the ‘pink triangle’ — the notion that all homosexuals in Nazi Germany were persecuted — we must respond with the reality of the ‘pink swastika.’”
Historians agree that this “reality” is utterly false. But many anti-gay crusaders have used the “gay Nazi” myth as proof that gay people are immoral and destructive.
Coretta Scot king, the wife of Dr. King, even came out in favor of gay rights, before she died in 2006. She compared homophobia to racism and the gay rights movement to the struggle her husband led against segregation in the south. This enraged at least one homophobe, who runs a blog called “jesus-is-savior.com” insisting that she is “no hero,” since she supports gay rights.
Speaking before nearly 600 people at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel, Coretta Scott King called on the civil rights community to join in the struggle against homophobia and anti-gay bias. “Homophobia is like racism and anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry in that it seeks to dehumanize a large group of people, to deny their humanity, their dignity and personhood,” King stated. “This sets the stage for further repression and violence that spread all too easily to victimize the next minority group.” — Chicago Defender, April 1, 1998, front page.
According to the above statement, Coretta Scott King is calling God a “bigot”! She accuses Bible-believing, Christ-honoring Christians of “dehumanizing” homosexuals. I have news for you Coretta, Romans 1:26-32 condemns homosexuals. God says that homosexuality is “against nature” (Romans 1:26). God even calls them, “haters of God” (Romans 1:30). It is abundantly clear that neither Martin Luther King Jr., nor his wife, had any concern for the Word of God. I say this with great sadness.
Reading what he wrote about Dr. King himself, its not that surprising that he would say something like this.
Martin Luther King Jr.’s Works Were of the Devil
Yes, because he was a “communist” and denied “Jesus,” despite the fact that he was a Christian minister who invoked God and Christian principals to fight for racial equality and social justice.
Than again in the same commentary, “jesus-is-savior.com” claims that he actually does “support” civil rights.
Coretta Scott King, wife of the late Martin Luther King Jr., diligently promoted “rights” for homosexuals, in spite of the Bible’s condemnation upon such wickedness (Leviticus 20:13). Coretta even went as far as to link homosexual (gay)-rights with African-American civil rights; but there is a world of difference. A world of difference!
Homosexuality is an entirely different matter! Why? Because it is CONDEMNED in the Bible. When civil rights activists were fighting relentlessly to free African-American slaves from the bondage of cruel enslavement, they weren’t fighting against the Word of God.
Yeah, I’m sure the almighty thinks Mrs. King was a bad person for opposing homophobia, despite the fact that no one has a direct pipe line to God, and we have no more reason to think the Bible is his word than any other religious text.
This guy is an excellent argument for the secularism, as are most homophobes.
Other homophobes have come out and openly stated that since the American courts aren’t giving them what they want, officials should just disobey them.
Anti gay bigot Mat Staver, wants us to defy the courts who rule in favor of marriage equality.
It really I think, in the minds of the people, hurts the credibility of these courts. And I think when that happens, if the people say we can no longer trust these courts, we can no longer accord them the kind of responsibility and authority that they have, then guess what? They lose their authority. They have no enforcement power, it is only because the people and the government officials in the executive branch — federal and state — give them the authority. Other than that, they have no authority and that will ultimately I think weaken the judiciary.
Never mind how states and the federal government being able to simply defy the courts, especially the US supreme would actually undermine the constitution and our liberty. That would be the case, even if any of the nonsensical fears about gay marriage were based in reality. Just imagine if white people in the Jim Crow south, could have gotten away with defying the Brown VS Board of Education ruling. Back then, Segregationists wanted to nullify the supreme court on civil rights, at least as badly as homophobes want to tell the courts to go pound sand on gay rights today. Today’s homophobes might claim that they have the Bible on their side, but so did the segregationists.
Before Loving VS Virgina reached the Supreme Court, a Judge in a lower court ruled that laws banning interracial marriage were justified, since the Bible supposedly forbid it. It wouldn’t actually matter if it did, at least as far as the constitutionality of a law. The Bible isn’t the supreme law of the land, the constitution is. The lower court ruling was overturned and now most Americans don’t see any problem with interracial marriage.
Then there’s yet another far more infamous anti gay wingnut, who goes by the name Bryan Fischer. You’ve probably heard of him by now, especially if you spend a lot of time here at LGF. Contrary to people like Fischer, the government isn’t persecuting Christians over their views on gay marriage.
Also contrary to Fischer, Government officials who refuse to follow court orders allowing same sex marriages and perform them when they’re require to do so, won’t have much in common with Rosa Parks. They have more in common with George Wallace standing in the school house door.
Yet today’s marriage equality opponents claim they are defenders of “freedom” and that we’re the one’s who are “intolerant.” They might want to look up those words. ( Especially Fischer ) They have much more in common with the people who violently opposed interracial marriage than people who genuinely fought for freedom and against intolerance. People who oppose gay marriage, and often think homosexuality itself should be illegal are the one’s who are intolerant. Some have Even fantasized about murdering gay people, just because they don’t like their “lifestyle choice”. Pat Buchanan recently praised Vladimir Putin, for Russia’s new anti gay laws, and endorsed laws in India criminalizing sex between two consenting adults, who are the same gender. How is all of this “tolerant?” In the meantime, No one is forcing marriage equality opponents into having gay weddings. The claim that gay rights activists are the intolerant ones is made even more laughable when they combine their homophobia with anti communist conspiracy theories and Godwins.
I wouldn’t want to live in the America that the white supremacists of the 1950s and 1960s would have wanted me to live in. I also don’t want to live the America that homophobes want us to live in.
