Levin’s a pathetic hack. Really, if you got a problem with executive orders, then you obviously don’t understand how the Constitution works. Obama’s actually issued relatively fewer EOs compared to two predecessors in both parties.

This is a splendid idea; I stand behind it; I only wish I had thought of it first. Make acts which are inherently null and void, null and void.

When you read his words, remember to put them in a high pitched nasally skreech which sounds much like air escaping from a balloon at a rapid rate. Poor Levin, he tries really hard to stand out among all the other nutty talkshow hosts, but Savage already screams, Ingraham is already “outraged”, Hannity already has the talking points written for him by the party, and Limbaugh already has all the faux alarmist harrumphing. Levin has to be a sideshow geek these days, being more loud and shrill, in a desperate attempt to garner some attention.

By the numbers, Obama has issued fewer EOs than his recent predecessors, both overall and by the year. Obama’s averaged about 41 per year, while Reagan issued 47 per year. GWB likewise issued more per year than Obama. He also issued more to this point in his presidency than Obama has to date.

It’s nonsensical ravings to gin up anger over the fact that Obama is using all the means at his disposal to govern in the face of blatant and rampant obstructionism by the GOP.

This is a GOP that thought nothing of shutting down the government last year and threatening to default the nation in the debt ceiling fight. We are supposed to take them seriously as a partner in negotiations and governing?

And we’re supposed to take Levin seriously? Levin worked for Reagan. In fact, he worked for Attorney General Ed Meese. So he’d know a thing or two about EOs.

No, this is about who’s wielding the power of the presidency. And it shows.

I thought Levin was supposed to be smart.

Thecommodore,

I wonder how exactly they’re going to determine what executive orders are unconstitutional and which are not. I also wonder what they plan to do, when they come to conclusions that are actually contrary to supreme court president, and people, including other people in congress who are more rational won’t go along.

Isn’t the House free to challenge these orders in court? Isn’t that what’s happening with the recess appointments case?

To his suggestion: One branch of government saying that something done by another branch is null and void does not make it so, unless the Supreme Court is doing the saying. But I definitely think they should do it - it would be a glorious show of aggressive stupidity.

Even more interesting would be his making suggestion that the House declare that a Supreme Court decision (say, the Affordable Care Act decision, or Roe v. Wade or what have you) was null and void. That would be a tremendous demonstration of know-nothing (in the literal, not historical, sense), anti-constiutionalism that would stand the test of time.

re: #3 Egregious Philbin

Little known fact: Levin actually writes all of Hannity’s material for him, including his books.
Just some inside baseball for you.
