I think that the latest CDC figures had roughly 5,000 new HIV diagnoses for African-Americans - this was from 2008 - and new infection rates have been steadily declining over the past decade.
Also, there were only 3000 deaths during that year due to HIV-related causes.

Hardly what I would call a pandemic in the male African-American community - it doesn’t even rank in the top 10. The big killer for AA males is cardiovascular disease and renal failure directly attributed to hypertension (high blood pressure). Nothing else even comes close.

And of course Fischer opposes Obamacare, which will provide the health care coverage AA males need to treat those diseases. The ACA is already working to get low income Americans the healthcare they need.

Said it last night but this is just plain creepy even without taking into account Fischer’s bigoted implication that one can’t be gay or pro gay and be an African-American male.

Wow, the soft racism of his openly stating that white conservatives have to make laws to restrict the activity of black males, for their own good, is STAGGERING. Or, should be. Sadly, it’s pretty much par for the course.
