BĂ©bĂ© in ToylandâŠ
Some of you, those stricken through with red and fire, may remember Bébé . The homeless teenager who makes good by signing with the worlds biggest football club for £7 million.
Abandoned by his parents at a young age, Bébé grew up in a homeless shelter near Lisbon. He began his football career as an amateur with Loures before joining Estrela in 2009. A year later, he was signed by Vitória de Guimarães but transferred almost immediately to Manchester United for a fee of about £7 million, despite manager Alex Ferguson admitting he had never seen Bébé play.
Those of you who do not remember him, it is because the next chapter of his story did not continue with the same fairy-tale quality as the latter. He never managed to break into the Man. Utd. team, and instead has plied his trade for smaller teams in lower leagues on loan.
Which brings us to today - surely the Bébé saga cannot be over - if he can still score goals like this:
A skillful back-heel and a thrifty direct strike is the stuff of legend. If he can do that at Carrington (Manchester Unitedâs vaunted training ground, also known as Trafford Training Center) then Moyeâs can check one presumed acquisition of his rather long âto doâ list.
