Als, take a look at red states ‘family values’ such as divorce rate and teen pregnancy rates.

I try not to be disgusted by their hypocrisy, but damn people.

Yep. I mean it wouldn’t bother me if they weren’t so obsessed with this bs idea that LIBERALS AND DEMOCRATS ARE MOOCHERS. I’ve got no problem helping them but their hypocrisy is just annoying.

I wish all Americans could have seen how outraged the GOPTP politicians and their supporters were here in GA when they discovered that the president’s latest budget doesn’t contain any funding to improve the port at Savannah. They were pissed. They easily forgot that it was the GOPTPers in Congress who decided that budgets wouldn’t contain earmarks. Even after some GOPTPers in the state legislature wrote the WH OMB, they still won’t receive the funding for the port because it’s considered an earmark. The RW tools here are always bashing the federal government and talking about how GA can provide for itself, but apparently not in this case. In this case, they were depending on the federal government to provide most of the funding to dredge the port. Now, their little fee fees are hurt. This is a classic case of biting off one’s nose to spite one’s face.

As an off-the-cuff observation, it’s interesting to note that the entire former CSA is in the red (as it were), or very close to it. You can view this situation in several ways, one being the South is still dependent on the rest of the States for sustenance, and another being the Union still has its boot on the throat of the Confederacy. There are of course myriad other interpretations.

I’m sure there’s some broad, general truth in this, but it’s way oversimplified. Yes, New Mexico is a poor state, depending on federal help to take care of people, but we also have a couple of large, important National Laboratories, and custody of some nukes that take expensive maintenance and storage, plus the only place in the country to leave low-level nuke waste. I consider those as services to the rest of the country, not dependence.

Also, another thing in common to many of the red-colored states is large Indian reservations. These areas are heavily dependent on federal funds.

I’d like to see someone expound on this topic in a more complete way. I didn’t find that here.
