OK, he gets moved back a few places in the waiting lines for the tumbrels.

This guy really gets it:

The most ironic thing about rising inequality is how completely unnecessary and self-defeating it is. If we do something about it, if we adjust our policies in the way that, say, Franklin D. Roosevelt did during the Great Depression—so that we help the 99 percent and preempt the revolutionaries and crazies, the ones with the pitchforks—that will be the best thing possible for us rich folks, too. It’s not just that we’ll escape with our lives; it’s that we’ll most certainly get even richer.

We can raise the minimum wage, but it isn’t as easy to do things that will rein in the rising inequality in workforce preparation and skill. But one thing is simple to name and simple to implement: allow more high-skill immigrants. This instantly raises the average income, and since hardly any of the newcomers will be coming in as CEOs, it also moves up the median.

Reforming the education system would be nice, but reforms have been defeated in DC and just barely sustained in NYC, where mayor de Blasio was blocked in his effort to shut down charter schools when civil rights activists and community organizers teamed up with the governor of NY to defend the right of the poor to alternatives to failing public schools.

re: #4 lostlakehiker

If you are referring to something like the H1B visa program for allowing more high-skill immigrants, I disagree.

The whole H1B thing is a scam by BigCorps to drive down wages.

I was most irritated to see good, solid criticism of the H1B program on RedState of all places. Live issues like that should not be left lying around for the opposition to pick up.

Like the low quality of Wal Mart store managers? BOOM!

In all seriousness, if you want more skill from the workforce, then start by giving them a reason to give a s***. Anything else to improve employee performance won’t matter if you neglect this thing called “morale.” Treating people as nothing more than disposable assets to be exploited is a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad start.

Beyond that, if you want more and better skilled workers, than the rising costs of higher education must be struck down asap. Seriously, what do these colleges think they are, hospitals? Huh? Some of them are? What double-dipping a-holes!

All those Chinese peasants flooding Chinese cities to make corporate electronics must be carrying college degrees?

Democrats seem to think that opposing H1-B visas would be seen as anti-immigrant, but it really isn’t. What it is really doing is saying “fill American jobs with Americans when possible”, and in doing so it crosses party lines fairly well. But it will face a massive headwind from those business owners who want the lower employee costs H1-B visas will provide them.
