By the way, I meant to include a link to the Southern Poverty Law Center’s expose on Pamela Geller, for anyone here happens to not know who she is. However, I can’t access their website at the moment. Not sure why.

Decided to include a link to Charles Johnson latest post on one of her instances of bigoted outrage instead.

Dawkins has been increasingly writing things that people have called homophobic. For people who don’t follow atheist blogs regularly, quite a few people have been distancing themselves from him since this has started.

I take it things would be a lot better if Dawkins had died of cancer and Hitchens were still in the spotlight?

I saw this yesterday and I agree, it’s not pro-reason at all. The Muslim caricatures that guy tweets are highly reminiscent of antisemitic ones I’ve seen.

Dawkins continues to morph into another version of Chompsky: A brilliant scientist who dragged himself off into an obsessional world.

I don’t really get what you’re saying. Obviously, you’re implying something, but I lack the shared context.

One, I try not to wish death on anyone. Saying, “It would be better if Dawkins died…” is a horrible, inhumane comment. As far as Hitchens goes, I’m not really sure what you’re trying to imply. Are you one of the people who really adored Hitchens or are you one of those ridiculous people who thinks there’s only four atheists in the world and the rest of us are in thrall to at least one of them?

I’ve been an atheist since I was about eight and I’m now nearly fifty. I don’t really give a damn about Dawkins, Hitchens, Dennet or that last guy whose name I’m forgetting. Big nose, self-righteous prig. I get really annoyed at uninformed, ignorant people who think atheists “worship” these guys. If you’re one of those and you think you’re getting a cute little swipe at atheists in, you’re just making yourself look like a clueless dope.

In my opinion, in most ancients religions the fundies are “closer to the source”, so to say. Yes, the biblical authors did think that the Earth is ~6000 y.o., modern interpretations notwithstanding. Etc. Therefore there is no reason to single out Islam in this respect.

A person who fancies themselves a philosopher like Dawkins does should never be caught dead making such a category mistake.

Dawkins is the sort of person who would be far better served by ditching social media and communicating through edited and revised articles and books.
