I think there’s a reason some tend to talk only about black-on-black-crime, and it’s to divert attention away from the fact that white-on-white crime is just as bad, or in some cases, worse in some state. Those in power have a vested interest in demonizing blacks for killing other blacks because it permits the inaccurate stereotyping and scapegoating to continue, and it’s a way to maintain the white power structure in politics, economics, and in other areas. If Americans begin to realize that this is a very focused divide and conquer strategy being pushed by the one and two percenters, the one and two percenters are in for a whole lot of hurt. Many high-level officials/individuals on the right are experts at convincing poorer whites that blacks are a bigger threat to them than the one and two percent. They work diligently at putting fear of blacks into them through appealing to their emotions. It appears that they know which buttons to push to divert their attention away from the fact that 83% of crime on White Americans is committed by other whites. I cannot recall the number of times I’ve read since Mike Brown was killed in Ferguson that “black on black crime is the problem,” and Chicago has been referenced as an example of how “violent” blacks are. I’m black and I live in GA, so I know for a fact that whites kill whites fair frequently here because I read about the incidents online. I have also noticed that when articles appear showing that one white has killed another, there are often no comments to the posts, but when an article is about a black killing anyone in GA, the comments are ugly, filled with racism and ad hominem attacks, ranging from mocking the accused individual’s name to wondering where his dad/mom/family are and why they didn’t do this or that to prevent the person from committing the crime.
