This is right wing inadvertent comedy at its very finest.

Ignore the foaming at the mouth. Disregard the overt bigotry. Block out the hate filled rants. I’m people just like you. You. Bet. Cha.

It felt satirical. Gee did you know that Republicans breathe air? Whoever made and authorized this ad is clueless to what the Republican party’s problems are. I get along fine with rank and file Republicans. I’ve known them my whole life and realize they have been friends, neighbors, co-workers, roommates, etc but what I do not like is Republican policy.

What about the tea party? Are they like real people with feelings also?

Well, a bunch of stock photos and snappy music convinced me!!! Oh. My. God. I obviously need to open up a PR firm. I could do a couple of these commercials, charge the RNC or whomever a small fortune and get my finances back on track.

Republicans eat cookies. Republicans buy groceries. They sniff pretty flowers! Drink Water! Talk on the Phone!!

8 EPR-radar  Sep 25, 2014 1:43:09pm

Since GOP policies are basically hostis humani generis these days, except for the top 0.001%, a reminder that GOPers are human beings is apparently necessary.

Were you aware that Republicans even appreciate oxygen? Seriously this was just a huge fail.

This is only too true. My brother is a Republican. He is a good guy, but I don’t think he fully appreciates or understands the consequences of Republican policy. To me they are creating havoc and worse with their free market economics and their non-stop government bashing.

Right. I mean I think Republicans are wrong but I’ve never been one that equates disagreement with “OMG you’re a bad person without any redeemable qualities.” Hell VP Biden has a story about when he was a freshman Senator, he was very hostile to Jesse Helms(who frankly deserved the hostility) he got but Teddy Kennedy of all people pointed out a human side to Helms. If Republicans want to understand why people don’t like their party, it’s not because of the fact that we perceive them to be incapable of humanity, it’s because we have a big problem with their ideology.

Bingo. My problem with the GOP starts with its policies that are designed to enrich the top 1% at everyone else’s expense.

Then the GOP hides this policy goal from voters by engaging in bigoted and divisive appeals to white working class voters, thereby amplifying and exploiting just about every negative aspect of the US electorate. This appeal to bigotry is why I despise the GOP with all my heart.

14 bratwurst  Sep 25, 2014 2:07:34pm

It seems like a party confident of taking the United States Senate in 6 weeks wouldn’t need to remind America it is made up of human beings.

Right, I actually despise the GOP leadership more than I do the rank and file. The leadership are the ones spreading the lies about Democratic and liberal policies. They’re the ones who have convinced many an average American that health care reform is bad, etc.

16 EPR-radar  Sep 25, 2014 2:10:26pm

Any ad that talks about Republican feelings without showing Uncle Scrooge McDuck’s pleasure in wallowing in a vat of gold coins is clearly a lie.

Are these the same guys who call me “libtard”, say we should all be exterminated like cockroaches, we don’t work or pay taxes, we are all takers and a strain on society, we want government to give us everything, we’re commie/marxist/socialist pigs, we are traitors and unpatriotic, et al, ad nauseum, and they’re the ones with hurt fee fees?

Fuck. You. All.

Yeah that’s why this ad is laughable to me aside from how stupid it is. Sorry Republicans, you’re the party of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and so many other hate merchants who go out of their way to equate being liberal with being a communist or a traitor, and you’re upset because liberals don’t think much of you or your party? Tough shit.

19 Greup  Sep 25, 2014 2:23:06pm

“Message: I care.”

Bush the elder reading stage directions out loud during a speech to employees of an insurance company during the 1992 New Hampshire primary.

When you have to remind yourself of that, its bad.

Yes, we know that Republicans have feelings for racists, sexists, bigots, xenophobes, etc. They have made that very very clear.

22 Shiplord Kirel  Sep 25, 2014 2:50:08pm

Well. lessee: Hate, arrogance, fear, envy, and sadistic joy are all feelings so, sure enough, Republicans have them.

Did you know? Some Republicans drive Priuses. A few Republicans recycle. Ten Republicans listen to Spotify. Republicans put together Ikea furniture….badly Republicans are white. Republicans aren’t black. Republicans aren’t Hispanic. Republicans aren’t Asian. Republicans rarely read the New York Times in public. Republicans use Macs incorrectly. Republicans are grandmas, daughters, Moms. Republicans are left handed. Republicans are wealthy doctors, welders, teachers. Republicans donate to charity…if they can deduct it from their taxes. Republicans enjoy gourmet cooking…when someone else makes it. Republicans shop at Trader Joe’s…if that’s where their housekeeper decided to go. Republicans like dogs and cats, probably dogs a little more than cats. Republicans have tattoos and beards. Republicans have feelings. Republicans are people who care about themselves. Republicans are people, too.â€

This. This was my first thought. I was going to end with “Projection, much?” But, after reading your post, “Fuck. You. All.” is the better choice.

28 Lumberhead  Sep 25, 2014 5:19:27pm

Perhaps if they hadn’t spent the last two decades hating on Priuses, recycling, and the New York Times they wouldn’t need to try to convince us otherwise. Maybe if they hadn’t been so disrespectful to blacks, Hispanics, and Asians they wouldn’t have to try to convince themselves that they’re a big part of their coalition.

Umm. You need some pretty serious scientific studies to back up that level of rhetoric. We may get pretty frustrated with Republicans but in general advocating things like what you’re talking about there is frowned upon here.

It’s been scientifically proven that Republicans are not humans. I’m serious - Republicans are a different, more primitive, species. Even worse, CONservatives swell the pathetic ranks of the feeble-minded by expanding the numbers of those who are destroying the planet. If civilization is to survive, serious, permanent, action must be taken to limit Teabagger’s ability to reproduce.

I disagree strongly.

Republicans are quite human, and many are good people.

But, at the present time, they represent that facet of human nature that is uncomfortable with change, dissent or anything outside of a self established ‘norm’.

Speaking of which, considering what you said in the post I quoted, are you sure you’re not a Republican?

So if Republicans are a different species? Do you become a different species when you switch parties? Asking for those who of you who have been by your own admission former Republicans. I jest. That was either worst attempt at satire I’ve ever seen or someone who thinks they’re clever.
