Actually, this is about ethics in gaming journalism.

I guarantee we will see something like that from the Gamergate crowd in the next 24 hours.

Actually, it is about x in Doctor Who.

We need a Gamergate font. Should be a dark red font in something considered edgy.

Considering the number of people over the past couple of years who have speculated about the Doctor regenerating as a female, I’m rather surprised that this was a “shock.” Well, ok, it was, but a fun one.

My major problem with the new Master, like the one we had right before her, is her whimsicality. Same problem with the last two Doctors (not counting John Hurt) and even to a certain degree with Eccleston’s otherwise excellent Doctor. Same problem, in fact, that NuWho has had from day one with the style of its story-telling. Just as NuWho seems (or maybe seemed, if Hurt and Capaldi are a sign of a new trend) to confuse mature eccentricity with Pee-Wee Herman style goofiness in its portrayal of the Doctor, so it seems to confuse adult theatricality with childish playfulness in its portrayal of the Master. I’m not saying the reaction to the new Master is warranted, but I’d point out that NuWho is sort of giving them ammunition by making her coy and stereotypically feminine. If they want to do a female Master justice they might want to watch some of the old - allegedly misogynistic - old series female bad guys. Hilda Winters from Robot or Karra from Revelation of the Daleks come to mind.
