Mississippi Row Over Dropping Confederate Emblem From State Flag
A row has broken out among Mississippi officials over whether to remove the Confederate battle emblem from the state flag, in the wake of the Charleston church shootings.
Confessed church killer Dylann Roof posted on a website called The Last Rhodesian dozens of bizarre photographs of himself posing with a handgun and a Confederate flag, prompting a push in South Carolina to remove the Confederate flag that flies outside the state Capitol.
Mississippi is currently the only US state with the Confederate emblem on its official flag.
Voters in the southern state decided by a two-to-one margin in 2001 to keep the state flag that has been used since 1894.
