Republicans (GOP) Faced With Dilemma in Polls After the Charleston Shootings Last Week
According to the new poll results, many primary Republican voters do not see the topic of the Charleston shooting as an important enough issue which has placed the Republican presidential candidates in a dilemma especially when talking about racial issues.
The Republican contenders are in a difficult position as majority of the Americans (more than three-quarters) sincerely believe that racial relations must be addressed in the United States while one-third of the primary Republican voters feel the opposite.
“There is a tension Republicans are trying to navigate, and they are really stuck between a rock and a hard place. You have the majority of the public on one side, but the people who are actually going to vote for them in the primaries are less interested in this particular issue and may have different takes or alternate priorities altogether,” commented Ipsos pollster Chris Jackson.
