Oregon Pharmacists Can Prescribe Birth Control Jan. 1
PORTLAND, Ore. — On Jan. 1, women in Oregon will be able to get a prescription for birth control pills directly from their pharmacist.
Oregon is the second state, behind California, to pass such a law.
Fiona Karbowicz with the Oregon Board of Pharmacy explained the process that women should expect to encounter.
“The first step of the process would be for her to fill out the questionnaire which provides the pharmacist with background of her medical history,” said Karbowicz.
Then, the pharmacist would have a conversation with the patient about what they want or what the best options are. The rest plays out like any other prescription pick up
