Can’t wait for the inevitable twitter trained lawyers to claim that their stay at Holiday Inn somehow invalidates the US Code and the specific points relating to citizenship you’ve made.

All three of the cases you identify: Cruz, McCain, and Obama are US citizens and natural born citizens. That there’s a significant number of people who are birthers thinking that they aren’t is the result of the right wing disinformation campaign going back years.

It’s rather fitting that they’re eating their own with Cruz and McCain going at each other.

Likewise, McCain, who was born in the Panama Canal Zone was a citizen at birth under 8 USC 1403.

Not incontestable, given the ex post facto nature of the law. More at repository.law.umich.edu

There was a wing of birthers, led mainly by a lawyer named Leo DoNofrio, who claimed that “Natural Born Citizen” is defined as one born on US soil to two citizen parents, and that because Barack Obama’s father was not a citizen when he was born, even though he was born in Hawaii, he is still ineligible to be President. Aside from a few on the fringe of this fringe, there has been zero clamor about this regarding Bobby Jindal (whose parents weren’t citizens when he was born), or Marco Rubio (ditto), and especially Ted Cruz.

At any rate, this is a good post, and it shows how moronic birtherism really is. Which is why it is disappointing that Alan Grayson has bought into this nonsense.

Of course. Most conservatives don’t care about facts or the law. They care about Conservative beliefs.

Indigenous Americans Ruled Democratically Long Before the U.S. DidDemocracy: it was older and more widespread than we thought. At the Oconee site, called Cold Springs, artifacts were excavated before the valley became an aquatic playground. Now, new older-than-expected radiocarbon dates for those museum-held finds push back the origin ...
