Dinner w/ the Candidates! Kickstarter Project Intends to Upend Media Game.
More: Dinner with the Candidates! by Seth Jenson — Kickstarter
Kickstarter tends to be a place for game changers and this project could totally reshape the 2016 Presidential Race.
Essentially, he’s inviting people to join him in creating an audience of voters that want to meet the Candidates without all the crazy media bias and circus. He’ll host a dinner with each Candidate, asking questions submitted by the backers and then post the experience on YouTube.
Here’s a snippet from the actual Kickstarter page linked above.
“So how is this gonna be different from other interviews/videos with the candidates?
Firstly: Dinner. Nobody can play political games with a mouth full of meatballs and some sauce dribbling down their shirt. Nobody. We need to see these people behind some baby-back ribs, not a podium. We need best-friend, post-breakup, no scripts kinda straight talk, and we all know those kind of talks don’t happen without some delicious nutritioning.
Secondly: There’s a lot to be said in having a completely average interviewer. Ironically, my greatest qualification for this experience, is that I’m not a prime-time news anchor. I’m just a freshly-graduated college kid. Pretty normal. Kinda boring. Ready to change the world.
Thirdly: No media slant, tint, or filter. This time the discussion is happening because we asked for it; Not because cable news decided it was the right time, subject and venue. We’re putting YouTube to it’s true purpose and putting up material for, and by the People. We’re taking our potential Presidents out of the studio and into our dining room.”
