McCain slaps Obama’s “bad judgment,” inexperience
NASHVILLE — Previewing for a Tennessee audience the likely themes of his general election campaign, Republican John McCain said here today that the election is about “experience, knowledge and judgment” and depicted Democrat Barack Obama as inexperienced in national security issues.
“On the issue of national security, Sen. Obama has not only inexperience but has shown very bad judgment on Iraq. He continues to cling to a strategy that would have doomed us to defeat and chaos in the region. He said he didn’t think 20,000 to 30,000 additional troops in Iraq would have had a positive effect,” McCain said.
“If we had done what he wanted to do and have everybody out by last spring — before the surge had its full effect — we would have chaos and genocide across the region. Now we have a government that is functioning and to the pleasant surprise of all of us, much more effective. The three major cities in Iraq are now under government control,” McCain told reporters before a speech and “town hall” forum at the Ryman Auditorium.
