Todd Palin wins 2007 Tesoro Iron Dog race
The winner of this year’s Tesoro Iron Dog was greeted with a big hug from the governor Saturday.
Todd Palin, Gov. Sarah Palin’s husband, came in first place with racing partner Scott Davis.
The 1,971-mile snow machine race, which kicked off in Wasilla on Feb. 11, ended in Fairbanks on the Tanana River in front of Pike’s Waterfront Lodge & Landing.
The Tesoro Iron Dog Challenge is known as “the world’s longest, toughest snowmobile race.”
Racers must be able to make repairs when something goes wrong and choose strategic routes to beat out their competitors.
Only 12 of the 33 racers were able to finish the race……
