Just spiffy. My family left the USSf’nR to get away from this kind of crap. So Husseinovich is bringing it to us here in the US and A.

I think this is a serious FCC & FEC violation.

Why is it a violation? Write a check, get a channel. It’s not like it’s on the public airwaves; satellite frequencies are less regulated, like cable.

Charlie Ergen, who controls DISH, is a major McCain fundraiser (johnmccain.com) and actually helped found a think tank which McCain used to run and which has produced many of his top aides. This is not a guy in the tank for Obama. But he’s driven by deals and by doing things no one has done before. Something like this, where he stirs the pot and makes a buck at the same time, is right in his wheelhouse.

I’ve seen some complaints on the blogs that DISH doesn’t have Fox Business and/or only puts Fox news channels generally on the expensive tiers. That’s probably because there’s some personal animosity between Ergen and Murdoch. They’ve proposed to merge, bid against each other for huge acquisitions (including DirectTV), sued each other for millions, etc.

I think it’s kinda dumb to have such a channel when you can reach even more people cheaper over the web, but hey, if that’s how Obama wants to spend all those contributions, so be it.

It’s not a FCC violation to have a channel that’s just plain partisan socialist or even communist. Perhaps after Obama wins and institutes the “Fairness Doctrine”, making conservativeness a “thought crime” then it will be a violation to have a channel with just one point of view.

Donno about the FEC violation. Isn’t that channel a 24-hour rolling advertisement and might be a violation of McCain-Feingold regarding contributions to political candidates?

So stop yer bitchin’ if you don’t like what you see on TV, change the channel — literally.

Why don’t conservatives start their own channel? There’s plenty of content from numerous conservative/libertarian producers (see sidebar for PajamasTV advertisement). We could run programs from MEMRI exposing the Islamofascists. There are hundreds on YouTube. I bet Rush Limbaugh would be more popular than the Howard Stern TV show. There are many classic conservative movies.

The financial cost has for creating a TV network has never been lower. Corporations can buy 24-hour channels on DirecTV or Dish to reach their workforce nationwide for a cost much less than building a single analog broadcasting station. Maybe that’s what was done for the Obama channel.

New ATSC digital broadcasting enables more channels. It would be possible to piggy-back on an existing broadcasters.

People with conservative/libertarian (small L, like Dennis Miller) free-market ideas are the majority in this country. They would flock to such a channel. That would be a huge market — and bring in huge revenue advertising and/or subscriptions.
