Man kills family, self over financial troubles…more to this story than meets the eye..
At first glance this appears to be maybe only the first of these stories to possibly come to light. But this story is a little different. I first read the story yesterday and came across it again today. Yestarday the SFC article had one detail that was missing today. This story from an Indian news article does however leave it in. Not only was this poor man in a desperate financial situation, but in one of the notes left behind he found this solution to be “…the honourable thing to do…” and the Police spokesman states we are witnessing an “American” family that has been ruined. I’m not saying they are not members of our American society and were not welcome. Quite the opposite. Doing the “Honourable” thing in America is to aspire to do what you need to do and bring yourself out of any troubles you have. There are many ways that this can be done. This is the land of opportunity and this arcaic notion of bringing shame by not having the right job that you feel is up to your standards is absurd. I work two jobs, my wife works, we get by. But we do what we have to, for our son. I cannot believe that in this day and age that there are still societies that feel that killing family members is somehow the right thing to do, for any reason. It’s fine for others to bring their way of life to America. It’s how we were built. But some ideas, I just don’t get. I hope we don’t see any more stories like this but I feel this may be just be the tip of the iceberg. Especially when we have the diverseness of who we are as Americans. Our diversity makes us what we are, but I hope it does not tear it all down.
