It’s nice to read a serious, thoughtful opinion piece on this subject for a change instead of the usual paranoia & fear mongering. What he says makes sense—the Islamists aren’t going to go away, so it’s probably better to try to engage them and let their own societies change them gradually. Hostility will only ratchet up tensions and could make things take a turn for the worse. We don’t have the resources to impose our will on the entire Muslim world by force.
