In my lifetime (having been born in 1969) I honestly can’t recall this level of outright lunacy on the part of so many. It’s akin to a form of mass hysteria. Maybe the “Satanic panic” of the 1980s is roughly comparable.

Of course, until the 90s, we didn’t have the internet to tell us about all the lunacy that was going on at the time.

Don’t know if that’s the good news or the bad news.
