The ridiculous attempt to institutionalize a particular version of American history was simply another reflection of the sense within Trump’s base that accurate depictions of the country are an attack on White America.

I recall the UK’s Enoch “Rivers of Blood” Powell and his statement: “In this country in 15 or 20 years’ time the black man will have the whip hand over the white man”.

Because they can only see things in terms of one group dominating another.

That is the cause of their panic and outrage, or as we call it “economic anxiety.”
