Yup. I’m thinking about the AA men who tried to protect their neighborhood, standing and fighting against the racist mobs and militia in Tulsa 100 years ago. They died. Sometimes there is no option. Sometimes there is.
Sometimes the option is “if I’m gonna die anyway, let me take some of them with me. And meanwhile, buy time for my community’s non-combatants — the elderly, the children, the children’s carers — to escape.”
