‘Generic $PARTY’ candidates are regularly seen to perform better than candidates who are less than extremely charismatic. Is anyone aware of to what degree Romney’s problem is common or predicted, and how much seems particular to the profoundly flawed candidate that is Mitt Romney?

I’d say it breaks down as follows: the “money” photo, “375K isn’t a lot of money”, “I like to fire people”, flip-flopping on every vaguely centrist position he’s ever taken and being a dick to that gay guy in the diner accounts for 99% of the dislike.

The remaining 1% is just the simple fact that he’s transparently a colossal dickhead.
