To use an analogy here, it’s like when you’re preparing for that speech to your coworkers or classmates, you’re not nervous in the preparation phase because you know what you’re going to say but the second you have to speak or notice the crowd, you clam up. I imagine it’s like that even more so with a gun in a life or death situation.

Except that stuttering and sputtering nonsense is not going to accidentally get someone killed…

If you want to defend your own home and family with a gun, then that is your choice. But if you are going to pull a gun in publick, especially in a crowded, confused situation like a shooting, then you had better be well trained, have nerves of steel and excellent tactical/situational awareness.

That is not a skills set you can purchase over the counter at the local Wal-mart sporting goods section…
