Tapetum lucidum, it’s a reflective layer behind the eye in most mammals enhances vision in low light. Humans lost it long ago, possibly to enhance vision at dusk and dawn, where our vision is at its most acute.

Dammit, now it’s time for me to go to bed and you went and made me think of all you blue-eyed devils shooting your evil light waves back at the rest of us.
