Simply put, the argument is over debt mutualization. Germany and The Netherlands (in particular) are worried they’re gonna end up on the hook for the debts incurred fighting COVID-19 in countries like Spain and Italy (Italy is probably going to sink into an economic depression, and I’m sure Spain will take one hell of a beating, to put it mildly).
Oh, great. So not only are the “United” States no longer so to the point that “President Newsom” was trending somewhat-unironically, and not as far as I could tell to put him in Washington, but now the EU is going to be a failed state just as it was gearing up to be a standard-issue one with the big drag on that in Westminster having been relieved from it.
I hate this decade, whether it’s 8 months from ending or only 4 months old.
