That Trump ads production values are so low for the same reason that Nigerian bank scammers continue to claim they’re from Nigeria. They’re selecting for the most gullible and idiotic members of society. Microsoft’s research wing published a paper on this awhile ago. Basically it’s a tactic designed to avoid wasting valuable man hours. Scammers need to do everything they can to whittle down the amount of time they spend trying to convince a mark to give them money, so by making the pitch into essentially one giant red flag they’re sifting through the audience for only the dumbest, most credulous motherfuckers imaginable.
