My Rolodex is sorted that way. I know people by their given names.

When I look someone up in the telephone book, it’s like “Dammit, what’s Rex’s last name?”

The Icelandic phone book model. You are known by your first name and your last name is just your father’s name to differentiate you from everyone else with that first name.
