At this point, I think it’s WAY past any “decoupling”: the Republican Party has turned itself into a personality cult, and they’re going to have to stick with that [sick, disgusting] personality in any eventuality.

I also think they should be thanking their lucky stars that the political system of reliable “red” and “blue” states is still firmly in place, else (IMO) they’d be looking at a Senate blowout as well - and a “60-vote” slam in ‘22 as well. Unfortunately, that’s (again IMO) unlikely.
