OT: I was just in my back garden and my favorite birds have returned. They’re a reall bright canary yellow and the males have fire engine red faces. They look like something you’d find in the tropics. When “normal birds bathe in my pond they dunk their heads in and splash the water around. These guys dunk their asses in. If they weren’t so cool looking I’d be offended.

I was working on fixing the screens for my sunroom when I noticed I had a rabbit checking me out. He was just hanging out with a bunch of grass and twigs in its mouth. It was pretty cute.

Until… I found it had burrowed into my garden, and if I wasn’t careful, I could end up with another broken ankle. They are so cute, until they go and do something like that.

Now, I’ve got to go and find some kind of natural repellent.

Since I’ve been putting in a bunch of plants and shrubs, I’ve noticed a lot more birds as well. Most are pretty common stuff, but there are a few standouts, including a couple of striking Blue Jays and Cardinals that come through from time to time.
