How weird is the second part of Lane’s statement about God’s “judgement” on Nazi Germany?

I mean, the whole paradigm of large scale social violence = God not protecting you leads to an immensely fucked-up understanding of genocide, pogroms, etc.

Frankly if that’s how God is, I don’t want to believe in God. It makes God sound like a vengeful childish dick. I don’t know if God exists but I hope if a God does exist, he’s not anywhere close to being the bullying vengeful dick that Fischer’s and Lane’s is that can tolerate slavery’s continued existence but will destroy a nation over gay couples enjoying equal rights under the law.
