You musn’t think that all dark-skinned Spanish-speakers are “Hispanics”, as if they were one group. We Caucasians are too apt to think that. Best analogy I heard from a Puerto Rican: Think of the Irish vs. the Italians. (Dominicans and Puerto Ricans have a rivalry.)

Recently saw a 1930’s Pittsburgh newspaper report on a fatal “race riot”—Irish vs Italians.
