My ex had a grandfather who’s honest to God nickname was the first three letters of the n-word, given to him because he was the darkest white kid on the farm. That’s what he answered to, that’s what you had to call him. It was haunting and hilarious at the same time, like I can’t believe this 70 something year old, seemingly decent dude actually still goes along with this shit. What the hell.

It’s a big country. The casual racism is real casual is some places.

Friend of mine grew up in Maine. A teacher at her public school once told her she had ‘n****r lips’.

(This, BTW, apparently means that unlike the rest of the Scotch-Irish population of her hometown, you can actually see that there are lips on her face.)
