I don’t know what American Muslims are thinking about their “non-American co-religionists.” My guess would be that most of them are glad that they are here and not there. Not all American Muslims have close ties to the Middle East either and we’re also talking about 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants.

OTOH I will admit that Dearborn is a very spooky place, not at all like a midwestern town might seem to most people…a lot of fanatics up there…creepy with regard to assimilation etc
