I remember talking with Grandma Bacon during Watergate and she was so scared at that time. She thought there would be a revolution or coup that would drive Nixon out of office. I know Grandpa Bacon’s last immersion in politics was when he worked in Pat Brown’s 1962 and 1966 campaign. I remember Grandpa calling us on election night 1962 and he popped a champagne cork when Nixon conceded to Brown. He was joyous. But 4 years later Gramp said Reagan “took the fizz out of the Coke bottle he opened”.

I sadly think that this country is in its most perilous position since Lincoln took office in 1860. We already have a massive organized movement dedicated to overturning every advance made since Wilson and now we have a state openly defying Federal law—Idaho now saying they will ignore the ACA. I’m turning 62 in 2 days and now I’m starting to fear that my pension will disappear…
