On occasion I go to the local “farmers market”, where a bunch (but dwindling number) of local farmers sell their goods.

Business is not so good, I am told. Apparently people just don’t want to buy fresh fruit and veg.

People do not want to pay what it costs to raise and bring those items to market.
Too many times I’ve had customers say “I can get that cheaper at Krogers.”
Me: “Then get in your car, drive the 50+ mile roundtrip and buy stuff that was picked days ago instead of this morning.” (and it’s a 40 mile roundtrip for me to bring stuff to the local farmers market.)

They want to pay the same prices at the farmers market that they did 20 years ago.
So I no longer bother. I can’t afford it.
