re: #99 wheat-dogghazi

I haven’t got around to thanking you for the heads up on that course. I signed up for it and have faithfully watched all the video lectures and done all but one of the activities so far. I haven’t found the time or energy to participate in the discussions (other than the God v. science thread, which devolved pretty quickly into the SOS), or to delve deeper into the extra resources.

I’ve learned a lot. For example, the genetic evidence for the migration of humans into the Americas pretty much blows the “Solutrean hypothesis” out of the water.

Heh. I’m in that mess of a thread too since I’m a good anglican/episcopalian (no trouble with religion & science since they talk of two utterly separate truths.) but I’ve only read it mostly. Silly thread, thinking is better.

I’ve learned a whole lot from it. I’m really concentrating on the earlier end - I’m really fascinated by the whole Ardipithecus to Australopithecus evolutionary transition because that’s where the real arc to what is us today began. Where Australopithecus shades into Homo is another fascinating question to me - I’ve taken to referring to Australopithecus Habilis for example… yet the eyebrow ridges are so Homo Erectus on so many of the type fossils… O_o I do love the course.
