The look on Putin’s face, and his overall bearing, reminds me of a subordinate having to explain himself to the boss, and being quite nervous about having to do so.

It usually starts off with, “Well, you know…..I sorta fucked up.”

You’re right, that’s exactly what it looks like. Also the nose rub thing - isn’t that supposed to be a rather classic tell for lying?
