I carry pepper spray. I had a gun because of this nutbag, but I got rid of it when my son was young. Most of this is in my own head, I doubt he has any clue as to where I am (but I know where he lives, still with mommy and daddy, and he’s almost 60- what a prize) or he’d have shown his ugly head by now. This is a metro area of 8 million people, he’d have to work to find me, my last name has changed twice since then and I keep a low profile online. I check to see if anything, even a photo, matches my name online, nothing comes up, I’m careful on purpose. He has no online footprint either, no Facebook, Twitter or anything using his real name.

But that fear never goes away, it’s always there, little things remind you of it now and then. When something like this makes the news it always comes back, especially when the media milks it for all the salacious details. I thought about getting another gun, but I really am not comfortable around firearms anymore, which makes me a bad candidate to have one.
