In fact, let’s be honest here, many right wing domestic terrorists have military training. But guess what, I don’t believe that being a white military veteran means you should be thought of suspicious automatically. So why on earth shouldn’t Muslims get that same respect? Oh wait, they’re the wrong religion adn skin color.

They’re allowed the agency of being an individual actor. The idea that their actions are their actions alone and don’t get reflected on the larger group, because they’re the ‘default’. You can’t make an assumption against the ‘default’ by just one individual!

Meanwhile, blacks, Muslims, liberals, women, any ‘othered’ group, if someone acts up, someone does something terrible, someone does something offensive, it’s never just one person, it’s a symptom of a wholly unique and widespread pathology among the entire group. One member does something, the only recourse is collective blame, collective guilt. THe entire group has sinned because they didn’t reign this guy in so everyone must be punished and shun as the Monolith they are.
